Waiting
We are still waiting for government to start building Noluntu's house... there was a delay earlier this year, but they said they would begin in May.

This project has come about through the realisation of the hopes of a wonderful woman called Noluntu who started the Peacock Educare Centre in 1997 & generous offers by several guests who have visited the creche on walking & cycling tours of Masiphumelele township. Peacock is situated in an impoverished & crowded area, near Cape Town, where unemployment is very high & parents struggle to afford daycare for their children. Masiphumelele means 'we will succeed!'
YAY!!!
AIMS OF THIS PROJECT:
- to fund the building of a decent day care centre to replace the current little shack that has been a day care for pre-school kids since 1997
- assisting with improvements such as securing regular food aid (from local sources), running & maintenance costs and teachers training
- find innovative ways to make the centre self-sustaining
- where possible, to use local labour and skills for the building & to generate income in Masiphumelele
